Sustainability Starts With Purity

Every step of our process is designed to reduce waste, cut emissions, and deliver high-purity alumina with less impact. Through proprietary process innovation, we reduce process steps, chemical use, and energy consumption—delivering ultra-high purity with a lighter environmental footprint. The benefit goes straight to our customers: cleaner inputs, greater efficiency, and a more sustainable supply chain.

Sustainability is our commitment

At Polar, sustainability isn’t a surface-level promise. It’s embedded in the way we make some of the world’s purest alumina. Our patented process achieves 5N purity without chemical-intensive cleanup or multi-stage purification, cutting out unnecessary steps, inputs, and emissions.

We design purity into the core of our production, eliminating the need for post-process clean-up or refinement. We minimize waste, reduce rework, and deliver performance with up to 98% fewer SOx and NOx emissions and 40–75% less energy use than legacy methods like alkoxide intermediate hydrolysis (AIH) and aluminum alkoxide sol-gel (AAS). Backed by low-carbon hydropower, we help customers meet ambitious ESG targets without compromising on quality or reliability.

Our model is one of the cleanest in the world, backed by verified lifecycle emissions data. In 2024, our GHG intensity dropped 92%, driven by better design, not offsets. Hydropowered and precision-engineered systems, our alumina delivers on decarbonization and performance at once.

Our sustainability advantage

Through proprietary process innovation, we reduce process steps, chemical use, and energy consumption—delivering ultra-high purity with a lighter environmental footprint. The benefit goes straight to our customers: cleaner inputs, greater efficiency, and a more sustainable supply chain.

Fewer defects and higher process yield

Fewer impurities mean fewer defects. With 5N purity and Polars’ tight process control, our alumina helps customers improve yield and reduce failure in sensitive applications like CMP, ALD, and backend packaging.

Reduced production scrap

Our high consistency means less rework, fewer retests, and lower scrap rates. That translates to cleaner production lines, better throughput, and reduced material loss.

Extended product lifetimes

Cleaner alumina supports longer-lasting parts, from wafer components to ceramic coatings, by minimizing contamination, particle shedding, and premature wear.

Greater process efficiency

We use ultra-clean feedstocks and avoid upstream contamination, which means less energy and fewer chemicals are needed during customer processing. The result: more efficient tools, smoother operations, and less downtime.

Lower total environmental impact

Our proprietary process achieves ultra-high purity with fewer steps and up to 75% less energy use than conventional methods like AIH or AAS. Backed by a hydropowered grid, our production has a lower emissions profile by design.

Streamlined qualification and traceability

Every batch is backed by full documentation and ISO-certified quality, helping customers meet regulatory requirements, validate second sources, and avoid qualification delays.

How we measure progress

We track our results and use third-party verification to fuel continuous improvement.

0
Estimated reduction in energy use vs. traditional high-purity alumina production methods like AIH and AAS.
0
Estimated reduction in carbon intensity compared to conventional high-purity alumina.
0
Lower greenhouse gas emissions than traditional HPA production methods.

Governance you can build on

At Polar, sustainability isn’t just a product claim—it’s embedded in our governance. In collaboration with Ara Partners, we’ve implemented a proactive ESG framework designed to align with global procurement standards and sustainable sourcing expectations.

Our governance structure includes:

  • Environmental, Ethics, Supplier Compliance, and Whistleblower policies
  • Integrated anti-bribery, anti-corruption, and IT security protocols
  • Environmental and energy policies focused on operational efficiency, emissions reduction, and responsible resource use
  • A third-party verified Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) confirming 90–98% fewer emissions than traditional alumina processes

We work closely with OEMs to support sustainability audits, provide verified data, and meet standards set by the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA). Our engagement with RBA continues to deepen as we scale.

Decarbonization built in

Polar delivers something rare in advanced materials: uncompromising performance and measurable sustainability impact. Our process isn’t just cleaner, it’s proven to reduce emissions and energy use at scale.

By 2030, Polar’s climate-positive impact is expected to exceed 600,000 metric tons of avoided CO₂ emissions—the equivalent of removing more than 150,000 cars from the road. While others define goals, we deliver results.

In a market expected to reach $5B by 2030, Polar is ready to scale and committed to lead.
